First of all, you need to understand what’s the difference between a child account and an adult account.
Child accounts limit the access of users to features like online multiplayer modes, purchases, and social media connections. Child accounts aren’t able to log in to the EA websites. Which indicates that they won’t be able to use help.ea.com to make a case or use companion web apps for games. They also can’t buy the games from Origin or connect their games to social media. When logging into Origin, they need to use your child’s Public ID instead of an email address.
While an adult account is different from the child account. An adult account will allow you all the possible features such as playing online, chatting with friends, inviting friends to play, purchasing and downloading games from the Origin store.
How to Upgrade your Child Account to Adult Account?
When you were a child and you or your parents/guardians made an EA account for you, your account will be a child account even after you are not an underage child. To have full privileges of an adult account you have to update your account from a child account to an adult account.
This would only happen once you are no longer considered underage for where you live(Country).
Origin is going to automatically let you know when you will able to upgrade your account. Once you are able to have a full access account in your country, you are going to receive a pop-up notification every time you log in to Origin.
You can only update a child account from the child account you can’t make this change if you already have an adult account. You or your parent or guardian must sign in to the child account to upgrade it.
Once you update your child account to an adult account, you will be able to add your own email address, your new name if you want to change the previous one and a Security Question and Answer.
